Bialystok Poland
Bialystok Poland, (pronounced Byowistock), in the North East Poland is near the border with Belarus in the Podlachia region. The population is around 300,000. Over the centuries, it has been part of Prussia, Lithuania and Belarusia, before again becoming part of Poland after the Second World War.
The city itself is quite multicultural including Poles, Bylorussians, Jews, Lithuanians, Germans, Russians, Ukrainians, Romainies, Muslims and Tata's.
There are several interesting Palaces and Churches in the area and the Narwianski National Park. Some of the villages surrounding the city are picturesque with a few nice out of the way restaurants.
The city try's to sell itself as a "green" city with several cultures, but it is not naturally gifted for tourism.
